[quote=]Valtra, tractor of the year 2008?
Valtra is number 1 in Scandinavia, number 2 in Brazil and number 4 in the world, chasing MF, JD and CNH. France is Valtras largest market in Europe.
Why is Valtra a success story?
Engine:
The engine is the heart of the tractor, and is therefore very important.
Valtra is using a Sisu(in English"to have guts") diesel that has top-notch tech.
1.1 Very low fuel consumption, from 196g/kWh
www.sisudiesel.com/products/agricultural/specifications/
1.2. Clean burning engines.
Advantage: exhaust emissions below regulated level.
Has emission compliant to EU Stage 3A and EPA Tier 3.
1.3. 100 % Biodiesel can be used with SisuDiesel engines
SisuDiesel common rail engines are approved for use with 100 % biodiesel (B100). This means that all SisuDiesel engines can be fuelled with 100 % biodiesel (B100).

1.4. Ecopower low rev engines.(max 1800 rpm)
EcoPower(Idle 650 rpm)
- Operating speed range 900 – 1800 r/min
- Fuel consumption approximately 10-15 % lower than with the 2200 r/min engine of corresponding output
- The difference grows the more the tractor is used with partial loads
- Essentially lower noise level and a different nature of the noise
- Long oil change interval in the engine (500 h)
- Long service life of the engine; piston speed 25 % lower than with traditional tuning
- Low emissions, less oil waste
Spare yourself, save money and nature.
1.5. Electric inlet air heater
By electrically preheating the engine’s inlet air, cold start, ignition and running are improved. By continuing post heating cold running will be even and without white smoke. The engine also lasts longer and uses less fuel.
1.6. Sigma Power, The Sigma Power feature gives extra power for PTO work. When required for PTO work, the engine will automatically produce up to 30 hp more power.
1.7. AGCO spends a lot of R&D on SISU.
A NEW ENGINE LABORATORY FOR SISU DIESEL
The investment for the growth of diesel engine business continues in Sisu Diesel. Ongoing about 30 million Euro investment of manufacturing capacity adds engine capacity both in Finland and in Brasil about double in three years.

Transmission:
Valtry has tried Fendts CVT, but they cant cope with cold –25C conditions.
So Valtra is developing a better solution that uses the engine power better and can be used under any hot summer/cold winter conditions. Launch 2008.
“We found that CVT transmissions do not work as well in colder climates, and when you consider that Nordic areas form a very important part of our tractor business we have to get it right. I can confirm that we are very close to a solution and see possibilities to use such a transmission in our tractors in the future."
“Valtra’s own continuously variable transmission that it has designed in-house. Both the new S Series and the new CVT transmission will be launched in 2008.”

Valtra LHLINK
“Valtra’s innovative LHLINK front linkage attaches to the tractor’s frame by a vertical pivot, allowing the linkage to turn in the desired amount with the front wheels or even independently of the front wheels.”
http://www.valtra.com/Com/Commonfiles/movies/LHLINK.wmv
Hydraulics
The Valtra N121A and 141A models have an extremely high maximum capacity of 115 l/min (200 bar), which can be programmed according to flow and timing. The closed centre hydraulic circuit is based on a variable displacement pump and is managed by electronically controlled valves. The load-sensing hydraulics on Advance models meet all the requirements of the newest implements and implement combinations. The fact that the work hydraulics can be 100% electronically controlled is unique.
The N Series allows for the optional use of bio-oils.
Zero leakage
The pilot-operated check valves integrated in the work ports reducing port leakage to virtually nothing.

Drive balance control
Drive Balance Control is a standard feature of Autocontrol. When engaged, this system works like a shock absorber when carrying heavy implements on the linkage over uneven ground. The system senses the variations in dynamic loading and automatically makes corrections to even out the bumps.
U-Pilot
Valtra’s U-Pilot Headland Management System significantly reduces the amount of work needed to turn around repeatedly in the headland. This helps to keep the driver more alert and makes turning around faster. The system also reduces the risk of human error when managing so many functions. The Off/On/Rec switch is situated in the B pillar, while the Start/Stop switch is in the driver’s armrest. The display is in the instrument cluster.
Service
Spare parts supplied in 24 hours
In many markets our parts service is available 24 hours a day, and within Europe are delivered within one day. Original Valtra spare parts are recognised for their durability and reliability. Through the AGCO Corporation, AGCO Parts are also available, offering Valtra owners an even broader selection of original spare parts without sacrificing quality.
AGCO Corporation to make Valtra one of its four main brands
28/11/2006
Major investments in manufacturing and a new R&D centre at Suolahti.
According to an article published in the Kauppalehti newspaper on 20th November, the AGCO Corporation, a global manufacturer of agricultural equipment and related replacement parts, is to increase production at its Valtra plant in Suolahti. Quoted in Kauppalehti, Martin H. Richenhagen, AGCO’s Chairman of the Board, President and CEO, said “Production at Valtra in Finland will grow in 2007, and the factory’s capacity may well be exceeded in the next few years. We expect to make further significant investments in Finland.”
In the last two years, according to Kauppalehti, AGCO has invested some EUR 30 million in the Valtra facility at Suolahti and the Sisu diesel plant at Linnavuori, and Richenhagen’s comments indicate that this level of investment will continue. “Valtra is a role model for all AGCO tractor production plants worldwide,” said Richenhagen, “We have a total of 15 factories, and all of them are using Suolahti’s manufacturing, assembly and logistic processes as a model. The know-how that Finnish engineers have in this field simply does not exist elsewhere.” AGCO will be producing 80,000 tractors in 2006, with 10,000 coming from Suolahti.
Valtra to become one of AGCO’s main brands
According to Kauppalehti, AGCO currently has 13 brands, but Richenhagen indicated that the number will be reduced sharply. “When I became President and CEO in 2004, we had 26 different brands. Now there’s just half that number, but the process will continue. Finally we will have just four strategic brands, each of which will be unique. These will be Massey Ferguson®, Valtra®, Challenger® and Fendt®. Each has its own strong markets – for example Valtra is strong in Finland, Scandinavia, the Baltic countries, Russia, Kazakhstan and the Ukraine.” When AGCO acquired Valtra two years ago, fears were expressed that Finland’s higher production costs would lead to closure of the Suolahti facility.
Commenting on the reasons for AGCO’s decision, Richenhagen said “Productivity at Valtra is in a class of its own. In most cases, operations in an acquisition have to be restructured, but this case is exactly the opposite. AGCO has learnt a great deal from Valtra.”
Production of SisuDiesel engines to be doubled
In the same Kauppalehti article, AGCO’s President and CEO stated that annual production at Sisu Diesel Inc.’s Linnavuori facility in the town of Nokia will soon be increased to 55,000 engines from the current level of 25,000. Sisu Diesel Inc. was acquired by the AGCO Corporation in 2004.
“The capacity of the diesel engine plant will be more than doubled, thanks once again to the skills of our Finnish engineers,” said Richenhagen. “Production based on advanced robotics signifies home-grown engineering know-how, not something copied from others. The result is a new engine manufacturing facility which is more efficient than those of Caterpillar, Cummins or Mercedes Benz.”
According to Kauppalehti, Sisu Diesel Inc. sells engines to Case, an AGCO competitor, and also manufactures motors for boats, forest machinery and combine harvesters, so the prospects for the Linnavuori facility are promising. Valtra will also open a research and development facility in Suolahti in January 2007, a development which Richenhagen said indicates his “very strong confidence” in both the company and the skills of its Finnish workforce.
Founded in 1990, the AGCO Corporation offers a full product line including tractors, combine harvesters, hay tools, sprayers, forage, tillage equipment and implements, which are distributed through more than 3,600 independent dealers and distributors in more than 140 countries. Headquartered in Duluth, Georgia (USA), AGCO had net sales of USD 5,400 million in 2005.
